The Orb-acle Collaboration Project

What is all this nonsense with Orb-acle and The Crew? Keep reading to find out…

Fiz-iks just loves to connect with other artists around the globe. Not only do we like to connect, but we like to collaborate. If you have not already, you should check out the images and video we did with Darius Twin out of the US and the spray can project with did with CFYE. This time we wanted to do a project on a much larger scale that included several artists from around the globe.

We came up with an idea to create some characters and send them around the globe on a tour. The character would leave Japan on an adventure of epic proportions. Sending real people around the globe to have their picture taken was a little out of our budget so we decided to just buy some masks and send them instead. This also seemed like a unique way to get several artists from different regions invlolved together. Each artist or group would have the freedom to come up with their own plan for the characters and would be able to stick to their own styles.

After searching the far reaches of the earth, we found five of the wackiest masks you can imagine. The plan is to shoot the characters in Japan and create their story. This will be chapter 1. We will then mail the masks to the next artist. They will shoot the character and their adventures in that region and then mail them on to the next artist who will mail the masks on when they are finished and so on. Who knows what bizarre adventures await The Crew. We don’t and that is what makes this fun!

The plan is under way and they should hopefully be leaving Japan in early June to the US for a brief tour. They will then head over to France and on to the UK. After that who knows! You will be able to track them and their adventures on www.cfye.com.

Keep your eyes peeled for the story soon.

  1. Are you still looking for artists to send the masks to? Illum would love to take part in this project!

  2. I live in Poland for now and I think this would be a great project to work on. Let me know if you’d like me to participate.

  3. Hi there,
Not sure that this is true:), but thanks for a post.
    Have a nice day

  4. Can’t wait! This should be fun. Great looking characters and a basic narrative structure that will yield interesting twists and turns.

    Cheers!

    Matt

  5. I too would be honored and excited to have the opportunity to participate in this endeavor sometime. I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains and could find some interesting settings for the crew’s travels. If the chance passes me by, I’ll still eagerly look forward to seeing the story unfold as it passes from artist to artist. I do think illum and stewedman would be great participants. I also think Endemoniau, J.L.P., Lapp Pro, dennissucca, hobsonish, nick streetwalker, duane schoon, jannepaint, Captain Blithering, and especially tcb would be great participants too. You’ve seen tcb’s work I’m sure. Sick! I’m sure I’m leaving out other great light painters but these were a few I could remember and find on my contacts. The Orb-acle inspires me to start a light painting story. Awesome stuff!
